We threw a small birthday party for Matthew’s 1 year old birthday. Time flies! I still remember the first time we threw a baby shower for him and how he gotten chicken pox shortly after that, how I struggled on breastfeeding issues, and how Melvin and I toiled to wake up several times in the middle of night for his night feed, or to change diapers………………..

Now he is already 1 year old. If I have to repeat this again, I would. He is our every joy and we love watching him grow.

We ordered “Bob the builder” from Polar. The colour and cartoon character looks great.

Matthew is going to participate in a crawling competition with Baby’s Day Out organised by a few sponsors – Mother and Baby magazine, Huggies, Wyeth Gold, Hort Park, Amore, DBS, Julia Grabriel and IWT Kids Gym.

The night before the event, I had already prepared sandwiches and packet Milo drinks as two other families would be joining us as well – Dave and Lynn & Eng Guan and Feon. Hope we can have a small picnic and a wonderful time at Hort Park.

“This Way” – into Hort Park, we go.

Baby’s Day Out – we are at the heart of the event

After registration, we took the opportunity to snap some pictures before the competition began.

Crawling competition commenced at 9.30am, I had some problem attaching the media here. Anyway, Matthew didn’t win. He was too intimidated by the noise and crowd to make any form of advancement. From start to end, he was still at the starting line. So funny!!! However, I guessed it could be a good exposure for him.

After the event, we took some pictures with the 2 families who just arrived not long ago.

It is a pity that we didn’t get to cross the iconic bridge at Hort Park on Sunday. We will definitely be back soon!!!

It had been a long time since we last met William. He was in town again just 1 week before Singapore 1st inaugural F1 race. For a while I thought he was here for this purpose! We successfully arranged for a meet up at bugis junction where we then proceed to East Coast Park for dinner.

William brought a friend, Kenji along. Kenji is a hongkonger, who is first time in Singapore.

After the dinner, we decided to take a stroll along East Coast Park, where we can show the 2 guests how our coastal line looks like. Probably nothing much like the white sand beach which William is used to but for the Singaporeans, it is still better than nothing. I took some pictures of them with Matthew. William was worried that Matthew might cry if he was to carry him, but Matthew, other than going about his frowning business, was quite composed.

Ouch! How dare you pinch me!

Welcome to East Coast Park!

I had a hard time trying to take picture of babies, they never stop moving around. Atlas, managed to catch these 2 babies together.

I really like this picture which I have taken for Chrystal and Matthew, both of them looked so sweet together.

We brought Matthew along to attend Silin and Vincent’s houswarming party. Silin’s niece, Ezann is really sweet and she really knows how to pose! I wished I had taken more pictures of them but Matthew had not been very cooperating. Anyway, It is a great housewarming party, though I had forgotten to take pictures of the host themselves.

Matthew went to Orchard Road on 26 July 2008. This was not the first time that he was there, it just so happened that it was my birthday that day and my first birthday with him!!!

A day of shopping at Orchard Road, where Melvin bought 2 Japanese felt mascot books for my birthday. After that we went to Siglap for dinner. Though nothing spectacular, it has been quite a day for us.

My day ended with desserts at Haagen Daazs. Happy and sweet ending, the way I like it.

Matthew had crossed another milestone, he started holding his own bottle while drinking his milk. Crawling had become his favourite activity and he began to giggle quite a fair bit, getting cheekier and cheekier each day. He also starts to stand up on his own by holding onto support such as table and is getting more and more restless. While he was still struggling with standing up, Casper celebrated his 1 yr old birthday on 9 August.

Few weeks later, Shiqi and Jay celebrated Jaden’s 2 year old birthday. It had been some time since we last met and Jerel was already 5 mths old.

This is Jerel. The last time we met was when he was just borned but now he is already 5 months old.

Jaden (right), the birthday boy, shying away from the crowds are in tears. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, he would be happy because he had received alot of presents.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures of Matthew during his 2nd month as he was down with Chicken Pox, so in his 3rd month to 6 month, I tried to compensate back. The statement that “babies really grow up very fast” is so true. In his 3rd to 6th month, Matthew had learnt how to flip and turn back on his own as well as to sit up straight.

I just recovered from Chicken Pox, feeling blues.

Hmphf, Who says I don’t know how to smile?

I hope Mummy can quickly take the pictures before I slide downwards.

Ah Yee Julie and Me.

This Chinese New Year (2008) was our first New Year with Matthew. It was great as we finally can go and collect some angbaos from relatives and friends.

Matthew is all dressed up and ready to go.

Casper, just 2 months older than Matthew is really tall. I hope Matthew will not take after our genes. Geez.

This is the 2nd day of Chinese New Year and Matthew is all dressed up and ready to go for another round of angbaos collection.

Soon after Chinese New Year, Melvin had to go for overseas business trip again, so we had to shift to Zee Gou’s place temporary till he comes home. In fact, this arrangement has becomes a norm whenever Melvin travels.

Julie decided to set up a play corner for Matthew. He is a relatively active boy and really enjoys flipping and turning around after he becomes a pro. This is when he is in his 4th month going 5th month.

I realised that I still have not open the gym set that office had given me for the delivery of Matthew. Guess, it is time to open and let Matthew plays with his new toy.

Matthew with his play gym, looking really happy.

Shiqi recommended me this colourful Korea play mat which is good for babies to learn crawling or rolling. I decided to get one for Matthew as well.

Matthew doing “good justice” to his new gym set and play mat.

A picture of Matthew in a sitting up position. Well, he still couldn’t sit up by himself properly but is trying very hard to cross over this milestone. One day when we brought him out for shopping, he suddenly sat up straight on his own, we were both caught by surprise. That very day he was 6th month old exactly. That was a good news to us, he can finally be strapped on a car seat without sliding left and right, which meant that Melvin can fetch him back home from nanny’s place on his own without needing my help to carry him. yay!!!

Matthew in his car seat.

Ever since Matthew knows how to flip and turn, he started adopting this sleeping style and found comfort in doing so. Sometimes, we wondered whether his air passage would be blocked and would check regularly on him but he is fine lah!
